Matsushita announced it will release mobile phone research and production technology to overseas markets in its new global strategy. Taiwan will be treated as the vendor's strategic center to further cultivate the Asia Pacific market and tap into emerging markets such as India and South Africa.

 

Taiwanese makers Quanta and Compal will remain as Matsushita's only outsourcing partners, producing mid-range and value-line models. Matsushita is now transferring handset design and production technology to Quanta, the first benefactor of Matsushita's new strategies in 2004.

 

Additionally, the Japanese vendor has set up a 3G research center with NEC in Shanghai, China, for further expansion into the Asia Pacific market.
